Public Policy and Business Advocacy: What We Do For You
We monitor, track and act on issues that impact business:
Active committees comprised of our business members focus on the work of the Albuquerque City Council, the Bernalillo County Commission, the New Mexico State Legislature and other legislative and regulatory bodies. We are proactive, watchful and involved. Positions are developed that represent what is best for business and thus our regions ability to grow and prosper.
We aggressively lobby on behalf of the business community.
Because we're funded exclusively by the business community, we are able to advocate on your behalf at the local, state and federal level. Chamber planning councils and committees participate in creating a comprehensive legislative package that we proactively lobby for at the Legislature.
We develop and draft legislation on issues important to the business community and to economic growth. We work aggressively to kill legislation that is bad for business. We represent business in the interim legislative process and build relationships with legislators throughout the state to move the business agenda forward.
The 52nd Legislature, First Session, is a 60-day session and starts January 20, 2015. Daily reports are sent to our members during the session to keep them informed and involved in decisions being made by our legislators at the Roundhouse in Santa Fe.
We intervene in issues that affect business at the federal level of government.
We work with the New Mexico Congressional delegation, other members of Congress and the Administration to ensure that New Mexico's business voice is heard in Washington, DC.
